Table booking information

Our maximum table size is 10 and parties of this size are always given our lovely private dining room, the Parlour. The restriction of numbers is partly so other diners don't suffer from the aural and temporal impact of a large party, but mostly because 10 is the maximum amount of chairs that we can fit round the table in the Parlour (with a maximum of eight in the Trinity). So please don't plead with us to take a larger party because we just can't do it!

Lunch: we do not take bookings for lunch from Monday to Saturday (except for parties of 6+), on which days we serve a smart pub lunch. On Sundays, we run a slightly more formal menu and do take bookings. For most of the year, apart from high summer, we also have roast Aberdeen Angus sirloin with all the trimmings available but as we don't want to serve dried-up Yorkshires and rock-hard roasties we only make a limited amount and it is offered verbally. So if you want a traditional Sunday lunch we recommend an early arrival.

Dinner: bookings are always recommended for dinner, except perhaps midweek in the depths of winter. Certainly Saturday nights get booked up well in advance, as do all high days and holidays. The a la carte menu changes daily (perhaps 'evolves' would be a better description) and although dishes are priced individually, anyone on a dinner, bed and breakfast package is offered a free choice – there are no supplements applied.

Dinner, bed and breakfast packages: the weekend, dinner, bed and breakfast rate includes a choice of three courses from our normal a la carte and full English breakfast with no supplements charged. Midweek dinner, bed and breakfast bookings or discounted package rates (e.g. 3 for 2 offers) include a choice of two courses from our normal a la carte and full English breakfast with some supplements.
